  • Polite食べます · 食べません · 食べましたThe everyday polite form, its negative and past.
  • Negative食べないThe plain "not": ない for verbs.
  • Past食べたThe plain past, like た in 食べた ("ate").
  • Past negative食べなかった"Didn't": ない becomes なかった.
  • Te-form食べてFor asking (食べてください), linking actions and 〜ている.
  • い-adjectives高くない · 高かった · 高くてい changes to く, かった, くて.
